PADDON 'MORE DETERMINED' AFTER PORTUGAL INFERNO

THREE WEEKS AFTER HIS HYUNDAI I20 WAS DESTROYED BY FIRE IN PORTUGAL, HAYDEN PADDON WILL TACKLE RALLY ITALIA SARDEGNA (9-12 JUNE) WITH A BRAND NEW CAR - BUILT IN JUST A WEEK - AND ANOTHER PODIUM FINISH IN HIS SIGHTS.


Shortly after the high of his maiden WRC victory in Argentina, Paddon and co-driver John Kennard hit the ground with a bump in Portugal, when their car caught fire following an off on the opening day. 

Neither driver was injured, but the total loss of one of the latest specification i20 cars left Hyundai in a race against time to deliver a replacement from scratch for the next round. 

Paddon’s crew returned from Portugal earlier than the rest of the team to begin work at the squad's base in Germany and turned around the job in just seven working days.
And as he prepared to return to the coastal resort town of Alghero, where he celebrated his first WRC podium result in 2015, Paddon believed recent events had made him stronger.

So yesterday the car world had a small shock in a form of a video of the 4500bhp generated by a V16 engine that belongs to Devel 16. Supposedly the dyno could not handle more horsepower, therefore the promised 5000hp are valid. And don’t forget 3000 Torque the engine produced. No idea whether it was Nm or lb/ft however. Anyway, some may think that this claim will cause the Devel 16 to be the next Hypercar En Masse. It won’t.

A new viral video showed up on the Transformers Twitter account with the caption "Something wicked this way comes #Transformers". The video shows  a file with the number 21.63 Date: 10. The rest of the date is covered in black, but both numbers are underneath the United States State Department title and logo.

Along with the image, there is morse code, which via Screenrant translation, says "E I'm Coming For You May 31st."

Hopefully, we'll learn more about who the Transformers are up against on May 31st, but in the meantime its fun to speculate just who that might be. Smart money is on Unicron, who is aside from Megatron the franchise's most recognizable villain. It would make sense that Director Michael Bay would bring everyone back together for a villain of that scale, as Unicron consumes whole planets and stars on a regular basis. His alternate form isn't just a spaceship or a car, but an entire planet.

Seeing as Transformers: Age of Extinction teases more information about the creation of the Prime legacy, it would stand to reason that his opposition in the last knight would be the same enemy of Primus.

For all the flack he gets about these movies, I would still like to see Bay take on Unicron before he exits the franchise. Transformers: The Last Knight is slated for release on June 23rd, 2017.

Here’s What Really Happened To The Cars From ‘Pimp My Ride’

“Pimp My Ride” premiered on MTV in 2004 with a straightforward premise that was beautiful in its simplicity: Take a kid with a beat up car and have the rapper Xzibit orchestrate a massive and ridiculous upgrade. The theme song explained it all in just a few lines: “So you wanna be a player, but your wheels ain’t fly / You gotta hit us up, to get a pimp’t out ride.”

But although the show operated within such a minimal framework, things were a bit more complicated behind the scenes. From cars that would break down in a matter of weeks to fat-shaming a contestant to one MTV employee apparently trying to convince another car owner to break up with his girlfriend, there was a lot more to the creation of this show than Xzibit simply saying, “Yo dawg.”

Chalk it up to TV magic if you wish, but it turns out the legendary Pimp My Ride wasn’t what it seemed.

In a new (and rather disappointing) investigation by The Huffington Post, several contestants from the show stripped back Xzibit and company’s pimped-out-car miracles and revealed some behind-the-scenes faux pas.  Less than a week ago “Top Gear” dropped a trailer for its new season. That one was only 45 seconds long, though. Today the BBC’s premier motoring program decided to share a bit more of the upcoming show with fans, releasing a trailer that checks in at a staggering 105 seconds (01:45). The extended cut is filled with a ton of supercars, including the Ferrari F12tdf and the Aston Martin Vulcan. It also shows what is sure to be one of the show’s goofier segments.That would be Chris Evans in a Viper chasing around Sabine Schmitz in a Corvette. Where’s the goofiness? Both cars have machine guns on the roof. While there has been a ton of turmoil surrounding the new “Top Gear” this trailer makes it seems as if it’ll all be OK.

Crashing A Rented Ferrari On Your Wedding Day Is The Worst Move A Gearhead Can Pull

They were either fighting over directions or in a rush to consummate the marriage.
 Girls are supposed to play with dollhouses and boys have to play with toy cars, or so our society says. Another stereotype is that women thoroughly plan their weddings down to the color of the bridesmaid’s cell phone case while men struggle just to write their vows and show up on time. However this newlywed couple had at least one member who was a gearhead because they decided to rent a $342,000 Ferrari 458 Spider to ride off into the sunset in. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned.



Not only did the newlywed couple crash the rented car but they nearly demolished the wall of an home. The crash happened in Burnley, Lancashire, UK when the driver lost control presumably while arguing about directions or testing how the 4.5-liter V8’s 570 horsepower translated into kinetic energy. The bundle of energy that was the white Ferrari soon found its nose knocking into a wall, resulting in heavy damage to the front end of the car. Luckily the only casualty in the accident was the driver’s ego, but at least the couple will have the best wedding story ever. The owner of the 458 Spider is said to be a rental company called Platinum Executive Travel (PET). PET doesn't have the best luck with its rentals.

This Is Why Most JDM Import Cars Won't Be Future Classics

With the exception of one very important car. 
Thanks to the Imported Vehicle Safety Compliance Act, you can't import any nonconforming car (safety and emissions) into the US unless it is 25 years old. The R32 Skyline GT-R is only being sold in the US now because it meets this time limit, and you can have one for around $20,000-$25,000. However, as newer Skylines start to become legal no one really knows what will happen to the R32's value. Everyone in America is patiently waiting for the day they can import the R34 Skyline, aka the one made famous in the Fast & Furious flicks.



Skylines and other JDM cars are very unique compared to the previous vehicles we've examined in the future collectibles series. Skylines weren't just rare, they were forbidden.

Power Rangers Movie: First Look At Elizabeth Banks As Rita Repulsa

After 10,000 years she's free and ready to conquer Earth. 

Early this morning, EW released the first official image from Lionsgate's Power Rangersmovie, showing Elizabeth Banks as the malevolent space witch, Rita Repulsa. Check out the full image below. 

Banks' look is far removed from the original Rita, or Bandora as she was known in the Super Sentai series, no longer with her hair in eccentric hoops, but dons green, spiked armor almost resembling a thorn. Even more so...a dragon. 

Hardcore Super Sentai fans might think she resembles more of Mele from the Gekiranger series with the green motif, but it's definitely a different look for Rita.

Captain America Vs. Iron Man: Who Has The Coolest Cars?

 For fans of Marvel's Avengers, Robert Downey Jr. is the coolest man on Earth. Not only does Downey get to play a superhero, that superhero's "secret" identity is Tony Stark, a billionaire, genius, philanthropist. In real life, Downey acts a lot like his character, making him perfect for the role. He even has an insane car collection that rivals his on-screen counterpart. In the upcoming movie, Captain America Civil War, Tony Stark will go head to head with Captain America played by Chris Evans. So we asked the question, which hero has the best cars?

Let's start off with Robert Downey Jr. Like Tony Stark, Downey has many vehicles in his collection. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Downey revealed at his home in Malibu his collection includes a Porsche, Corvette, Ford F-150, Bentley,Volvo Woody, Boss 302 Mustang, Mercedes Pagoda, several Audis, and a GTI. Quite a collection right? Iron Man drove an Audi R8 in the movies and Robert Downey Jr. drives one in real life as well. Downey also says the Audi A7 is "arguably one of the greatest cars ever made" and bought his GTI after the success of the Ironman movies. Yeah, the GTI is just THAT good! Did Hennessey Just Smash Its Own World Speed Record?

This video strongly suggests it. 
Two years ago the Hennessey Venom GT claimed the crown as the fastest two-seater production car. It hit 270.49 mph which is just a bit faster than the 267.856 mph done by the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. Powering the Venom in its pursuit of speed was a 7.0-liter twin-turbo V8 rated at 1,244 horsepower and 1,155 lb-ft of torque. Now it appears like Hennessey has toppled its own record, at least if this teaser video is any indication. It shows the Venom GT with the roof off racing down the runway of what we assume is Kennedy Space Center.Hennessey is expected to announce the record run and release a video of it in a few days.
